Congressman Kevin Hern (OK-01) has announced several staff changes for the second session of the 119th Congress, affecting both his Washington, D.C. and district offices.

Robert Aery, who joined Hern’s team in 2018 as District Director and later became Deputy Chief of Staff in 2020, will move into a new role as Senior Advisor and Counsel. Aery is transitioning to part-time professional opportunities outside the office. Congressman Hern stated, “Robert has been an essential part of our team, serving the people of Oklahoma’s First District with unwavering commitment and integrity. His contributions have been integral to our team’s success over the past seven years. I’m grateful for his leadership and incredibly proud as he moves into this next phase of his career.”

Jefferson Willis has been named Deputy Chief of Staff after serving on Hern’s legislative team since 2021 and most recently as Legislative Director overseeing tax issues.

Madison Johnston will take on the position of District Director. Johnston started with Hern’s district office in 2022 as a Field Representative before becoming Constituent Services and Outreach Director.

Meg Maykoski becomes Senior Legislative Assistant after joining the team in 2023 as a Legislative Assistant focusing on healthcare policy.

Chase Gurey advances to Legislative Aide following roles as Staff Assistant and then Legislative Correspondent since joining in 2023.

Kevin Hern currently represents Oklahoma’s 1st congressional district, having taken office in 2018 following Jim Bridenstine’s departure (https://hern.house.gov/about/). He was born in Belton, Missouri in 1961 and resides in Tulsa at age 61. Hern holds degrees from Arkansas Tech University (1986) and University of Arkansas at Little Rock (1999).
