Republican Policy Committee Chairman Kevin Hern celebrated the House of Representatives’ passage of the One Big, Beautiful Bill Act. The legislation incorporates priorities introduced by Rep. Hern, including the WIRED Act and the Education and Workforce Freedom Act.
“President Trump and the American people gave us a clear mandate; today we delivered,” said Rep. Hern. He criticized Democrats for “demagoguing and fearmongering” while asserting that Republicans have worked to provide relief to families and businesses.
The WIRED Act, initially introduced as HR 6817, establishes fees on specific remittance transfers to target cartel activities and support border security. It mirrors a policy enacted in Oklahoma, with Rep. Hern collaborating with then-Senator J.D. Vance to bring it to the federal level. “Republicans are delivering on President Trump’s agenda,” stated Rep. Hern.
The Education and Workforce Freedom Act, previously HR 8915, allows expanded use of tax-advantaged 529 accounts for K-12 students across various educational settings. It also covers licensing and credentialing expenses to align with workforce demands.
“Any parent will tell you that they know what’s better for their kids than the government,” remarked Rep. Hern regarding educational provisions in the bill.
