Congressman Kevin Hern, representing Oklahoma’s 1st district since 2018, recently shared updates on legislative activities through his social media account. Hern, who succeeded Jim Bridenstine in Congress and holds degrees from Arkansas Tech University and the University of Arkansas, has been actively involved in discussions surrounding President Trump’s proposed legislation.
On May 13, 2025, Congressman Hern announced the commencement of a markup session by the Ways and Means GOP Committee for what he described as President Trump’s “ONE BIG BEAUTIFUL BILL.” In his post, he invited followers to “tune in as my colleagues and I on the @WaysandMeansGOP Committee markup our part of President Trump’s ONE BIG BEAUTIFUL BILL!”
Later that day, Hern addressed concerns regarding tariffs imposed by President Trump. He reassured critics by stating that tariffs are utilized as a negotiation tool. He expressed confidence in the president’s strategy with a reference to Trump’s book: “To all the doomsayers out there – President Trump knows what he is doing! Tariffs are a negotiation tool, and our president WROTE the art of the deal!”
The following day, on May 14, 2025, Hern reported significant progress on tax legislation after an extended session. He highlighted that despite attempts by Democrats to delay proceedings, the committee successfully advanced tax priorities intended to benefit working families. The update read: “Over 17 hours later… we have PASSED the President’s tax priorities out of @WaysandMeansGOP. Democrats did their best to delay the process, but we worked through the night to give hard-working families the tax relief they deserve. Our ONE BIG BEAUTIFUL BILL has one more stop”
Kevin Hern continues to reside in Tulsa and remains active in congressional duties at age 61.
