Congressman Kevin Hern, who represents Oklahoma’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of messages on social media addressing tax relief for Oklahomans, his tenure as House Republican Policy Committee Chairman, and concerns about fentanyl testing in child-welfare cases.

On April 14, 2026, Hern highlighted the impact of recent tax policies on Oklahoma families: “Thanks to the Working Families Tax Cuts, Oklahomans are keeping more of what they earn. This tax season, families across the state are saving an average of $3,106, delivering real relief and ensuring more of their paycheck stays in their pocket.”

The following day, April 15, Hern reflected on his role within House leadership and congratulated his successor: “It’s been an honor to serve as the House Republican Policy Committee Chairman, and I’m thankful for the trust placed in me to lead principled, conservative policy wins for the American people. I congratulate @JayObernolte on his election by @HouseGOP to serve as the next RPC.”

On April 16, Hern drew attention to issues related to fentanyl exposure among children: “Fentanyl is the leading driver of overdose deaths, yet it’s not consistently tested for in child-welfare cases. This gap puts our children at risk, including 3-year-old Leo from Oklahoma, who tragically lost his life in 2024 after accidentally ingesting fentanyl in his mother’s”

Hern has represented Oklahoma’s 1st District since replacing Jim Bridenstine in 2018. He was born in Belton, Missouri in 1961 and currently resides in Tulsa. His educational background includes degrees from Arkansas Tech University and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
