House Republican Policy Committee Chairman Kevin Hern has expressed his support for the recent G7 global tax agreement. Hern, who previously led the House Ways and Means Committee’s Global Competitiveness Task Force, emphasized the importance of international tax matters.

“Thanks to President Trump and Secretary Bessent’s leadership on the world stage, we are moving in the right direction to protect American tax sovereignty and American multinationals,” said Rep. Hern. He highlighted his ongoing efforts over more than three years, including meetings with OECD officials in Paris and Washington D.C., to ensure Congress plays a significant role in any tax agreements involving the United States. Hern criticized the Biden Administration for advancing what he described as an unpopular Pillar 2 plan despite bipartisan objections from Congress.

Hern further stated, “Today’s announcement is a tremendous step forward. America First does not mean America Alone. Good tax policy at the international level can lift us all, without penalizing American taxpayers.”
