Salt Lake City Stars guard and former Oral Roberts University men’s basketball player Max Abmas was named the recipient of the 2025–26 NBA G League Sportsmanship Award, according to an April 3 announcement. The award is given to the player who best represents character and conduct both on and off the court.

Abmas played four years with the Golden Eagles, finishing his collegiate career at Oral Roberts University after the 2022-23 season. His recognition underscores his leadership qualities, professionalism, and positive influence within his team and community.

During his time with Salt Lake City this season, Abmas served as a team captain and was described as a steady presence in the locker room. He also earned Most Valuable Player honors at the 2025 NBA G League Winter Showcase while helping lead Salt Lake City to a championship in Orlando. Off the court, he engaged in community service activities and encouraged young fans to focus on academics after games.

“Watching Max earn the sportsmanship award is a true reflection of his leadership and selflessness,” said Katie Benzan, general manager of the Stars. “He put the team first, lifted his teammates up when needed, and led by example. How Max carried himself on and off the court made our team better.”

Abmas’ commitment to excellence extended beyond basketball through meaningful interactions with fans and teammates alike. His actions have been highlighted as exemplary for both current players and those aspiring to join professional basketball ranks.
