Oklahoma Wesleyan University Women’s Basketball Earns Their First Win on the Season

OKWU’s Women’s Basketball played game two of the OKWU Classic on November 5th at 2:00 PM against the Evangel Valor. Both teams entered to contest 0-1 on the season due to a previous day loss in the OKWU Classic.

With an 84-79 win over Evangel, the Lady Eagles win their 1st game on the season and give Coach Heidi Messer her first Head Coach win.

The Lady Eagles trailed early in the game to the Valor, not making a turn around until late in the second half of the game. Having their best quarter in the 4th, the Lady Eagles outscored the Lady Valor 30-16, putting them ahead early into the 4th.

Freshman, Jessa Gilyard came off the bench on fire today. Scoring 22 points of the bench, she had 4 assists, 6 defensive rebounds, and 1 offensive rebound. Along with that, she was 5-5 from the free throw line, 3-5 from the 3-point line, and was 7-10 in field goals made per attempts.

The Lady Eagles ended the day shooting 80% from the free throw line, 38.5% from the 3-point line, and 45% in field goal makes per attempts.
