The Oral Roberts University baseball team will continue its Summit League schedule with a three-game series against South Dakota State starting April 17.
This matchup is significant as both teams are competing for top positions within the league. Oral Roberts enters the series with a strong conference record of 11-1, while South Dakota State holds a 6-6 mark in league play.
The Golden Eagles recently lost to Central Arkansas, but saw standout performances from Brenden Asher, who recorded eight strikeouts over 4.2 innings. The team has also benefited from consistent play by Easton Teel, who has earned back-to-back Kwik Star Peak Pitcher of the Week honors after throwing seven scoreless innings in recent games and maintaining a low ERA throughout conference play. Teel’s career statistics place him among national leaders in earned run average and walks per nine innings.
Oral Roberts leads the all-time series against South Dakota State with an 87-23 record and swept their previous meetings this season and last year. The team’s defense is ranked fourth nationally with a .985 fielding percentage and has turned 24 double plays so far this season.
South Dakota State comes into the weekend after winning a series at St. Thomas and defeating Midland earlier in the week. The Jackrabbits lead the league in doubles and scoring, averaging nearly seven runs per game, with Nolan Grawe standing out as one of their top hitters.
Pitching matchups for the weekend include Easton Teel facing Sam Schlecht on Friday, Nathan Love versus Sam Novotny on Saturday, and Jackson Farrell taking on Kaden Rylance on Sunday.
