Oral Roberts University women’s basketball team secured a decisive 85-52 win over Omaha at the Mabee Center in Tulsa on Saturday. The Golden Eagles improved their record to 11-8 overall and 4-2 in conference play, while Omaha fell to 2-19 and remains winless in conference action.
Hannah Coons and Ari Gordon each came off the bench to score career-highs of 15 points. Anna Trusty led Oral Roberts with a double-double, tallying 16 points and 10 rebounds. Kayten Donley added 11 points and led the team with seven assists.
The Golden Eagles out-rebounded Omaha by a margin of 52-36, with Trusty collecting a team-high ten boards. On defense, Oral Roberts forced 25 turnovers and turned those into 35 points, including six steals from Gordon.
After taking an early lead, ORU went on several runs throughout the game. A nine-point streak late in the first quarter expanded their advantage to double digits. Another run in the second period pushed their lead further before halftime, where they led 43-24. The team continued its strong performance inside the paint during both halves.
In addition to shooting seven-for-seventeen from three-point range, Oral Roberts held Omaha to just over thirty percent shooting from the field. The ORU bench contributed forty points.
For Omaha, Ali Stephens scored sixteen points while Avril Smith grabbed sixteen rebounds and recorded five blocks.
The Golden Eagles will travel to Denver for their next game scheduled for Saturday at noon Central Time.
