The Oral Roberts University Golden Eagles Track and Field teams began their 2026 outdoor season with notable distance running results at the ORU Invitational, according to a Mar. 30 announcement.
The opening meet saw Oral Roberts athletes claim all three podium spots in the men’s 1500 meter event. Abraham Chelangam finished first with a time of 3:52.12, followed by Artwell Magake in second at 3:52.56 and Sibonokuhle Thwala in third at 3:53.15. Additional top ten finishes came from Jaxson Brooks, who placed sixth, and Kelvin Chiku, who finished seventh.
In the women’s 1500 meter race, Deborah Mazzei secured second place with a time of 4:36.71 while Ossly Murambidzi took third at 4:37.85. Zoie Kiddy finished sixth, Madeline Cabana eighth, and Mackenzie Penner tenth to round out the team’s strong showing in the event.
The men’s team also excelled in the 800-meter dash as Jaxson Brooks claimed first place with a run of 1:52.39; Seth Meyer and Jonah Marvine earned third and fourth places respectively. On the women’s side for the same event, Deborah Mazzei led four Golden Eagles into top-ten finishes by placing second alongside Zoie Kiddy, Hannah Vanderburg, and Lillian Woolery.
Looking ahead, Oral Roberts will compete again on April 10 at the John Jacobs Invitational hosted by Oklahoma Sooners in Norman.
