The Oral Roberts men’s golf team finished 15th out of 19 teams at the Tiger Invitational, which was hosted by Missouri at the Club at Old Hawthorne in Columbia, Missouri, on April 7.
The tournament brought together college teams to compete over three rounds on a par-70 course measuring 7,158 yards. The average score for the event was just over par at 73.01.
Oral Roberts University completed the tournament with a team total of 40 over par (296-283-301). Missouri claimed first place with a seven under par finish (279-271-283), while Veikka Viskari from Missouri won the individual title after finishing six under par (68-65-71).
Ben Gratzl led Oral Roberts with rounds of 69, 66, and an 81 to tie for 35th place individually at six over par. His second round score of four under par (66) was the lowest single round posted by any Golden Eagle during the event. Charlie Mooney also recorded a round in the sixties and tied for 59th overall.
Other ORU results included Jorge Sanchez Gutierrez tying for 67th (+12), Phillip Voetmann tying for 85th (+18), and Christian Johnson tying for 92nd (+20). Team standings showed Oral Roberts ahead of Drake, Lamar, Missouri State, and Central Michigan but behind Central Arkansas and Illinois State among others.
Looking ahead, Oral Roberts will participate in the Arkansas State Spring Invitational at Ridgepointe Country Club from April 13 to April 14.
