Oral Roberts men’s tennis edges UT Tyler in close home match

The Oral Roberts University men’s tennis team secured a 4-3 win over UT Tyler in Tulsa on Friday, bringing their season record to 3-2.

Doubles matches started the day, with Oral Roberts winning one out of three contests. Jack Berry and Rodrigo Guijarro earned the only doubles point for ORU by defeating Jordi Garcia and Samuel Antwi 6-3 at the No. 3 spot. UT Tyler won the other two doubles matches, giving them an early lead.

In singles play, ORU claimed three victories before the deciding match. Parv Nage won at No. 2 singles against Carel Wessel in four sets: 6-2, 6-7, 6-2, 6-1. Pijus Reklevicius added another point for ORU with a three-set win over Jordi Garcia at No. 5 singles (6-1, 3-6, 6-3). Rodrigo Guijarro also picked up a victory at No. 4 singles after his opponent retired.

With the overall score tied at three points each, Ricardo Filho clinched the win for ORU in a four-set match against Malo Poulesquen at No. 1 singles (7-5, 6-7, 7-5, 7-5).

UT Tyler’s points came from wins by Samuel Antwi at No. 3 singles and Martin Despodov at No. 6 singles.
