For the second-straight year, Sarah Bell won The Johnie Imes Invitational as the Oral Roberts women’s golf team claimed fourth in Columbia Missouri Wednesday.
News and Notes
– The Golden Eagles finished fourth with an 897 (+33) score. The team shot 11 strokes better from round one to round and shot 38 total birdies. ORU finished 20 strokes behind winner, Missouri.
– Veteran Sarah Bell claimed the individual championship for the second straight year. Bell led the field and her team with a 212 (-4) scorecard. In the final round, she shot a 73 (+1). In round two, she recorded seven birdies to finish with a 67 (-5). After a double bogey on no. 5, Bell made six birdies with five being on the back nine holes. She had 13 birdies total in the tournament. It is her first individual championship of the season.
– Newcomer Kate Strickland finished 16th overall. She had a 74 (+2) in round one, 72 (E) in round two and a 77 (+5) in the final round. Strickland had a 223 (+7) scorecard and made eight birdies total.
