The Oral Roberts women’s basketball team will continue its Summit League schedule with an away game against the Denver Pioneers on Saturday, January 24 at noon Central Time. The matchup will take place at Hamilton Gymnasium in Denver, Colorado, and will be broadcast on the Summit League Network.
Oral Roberts enters the contest with an 11-8 overall record and a 4-2 mark in league play. The Golden Eagles are coming off a successful week, having secured wins over Kansas City and Omaha. In their victory against Kansas City, Jalei Oglesby led the team with 21 points, while Anna Trusty contributed 18 points and Kayten Donley added 13. Trusty also led the team in rebounds with seven.
Against Omaha, Hannah Coons and Ari Gordon each achieved career-highs of 15 points as Oral Roberts won 85-52. Anna Trusty recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, and Kayten Donley provided seven assists.
Statistically, Anna Trusty ranks fifth in field goal percentage (46.7%) within the Summit League and is fourth in both total points (314) and points per game (16.5). Jalei Oglesby is close behind, ranking sixth in field goal percentage (46.3%) and fifth in points per game (15.9). Kayten Donley stands sixth for blocks per game (0.95), while Gentry Baldwin’s average of 2.8 assists per game places her seventh in the league.
Oral Roberts leads the Summit League in steals per game (10.6) and turnovers forced per game (20.58). The team is second in bench points per game (22.3), free throws made per game (15.63), and scoring offense (77.9), as well as third in both field goal percentage (44.4) and three-point percentage (33.9).
Several players have reached personal milestones this season: Hannah Coons and Ari Gordon set new career highs for points against Omaha; Gentry Baldwin posted career bests for assists and steals versus North Dakota; Jalei Oglesby recorded a season-best performance of 25 points and 15 rebounds against Oklahoma Wesleyan; Kayten Donley matched her season high of 17 points during a comeback win over North Texas; Alana Shetlar scored a career-best 12 points at Idaho; Anna Trusty tallied a season-high of 26 points at Kansas; Gentry Baldwin scored a personal best of 21 points during the Mayor’s Cup against Tulsa.
In preseason recognition, Jalei Oglesby was named to the All-Summit League First Team, while Oral Roberts was picked to finish third according to the league’s preseason poll.
This season’s roster includes eight new players—four freshmen and four transfers—and features matchups against Power Four opponents Oklahoma State, Nebraska, and Kansas.
Denver holds an overall record of 8-11 with a conference record of 2-4 entering Saturday’s contest. Most recently, Denver defeated Kansas City behind Coryn Watts’ performance of 21 points, eight assists, and three steals; Laia Monclova added a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Watts leads the Summit League in several categories including minutes played per game (35.66), three-pointers made (45), total field goals attempted (323), is second in total scoring (355) as well as field goals made (135), third in total scoring among all players, second in both field goal percentage among qualifying players (41.8%) and three-point shooting accuracy for volume shooters (31.9%), plus she averages nearly twenty points per contest.
Monclova ranks second for total steals within the league with forty-three so far this season.
Historically, Oral Roberts has won fifteen out of twenty-three meetings between these teams—including two victories last year—while Denver head coach Doshia Woods has compiled a record of fifty-four wins across six seasons leading her program.
