Congratulations to our Budget Division on being awarded a Mastery in Communication, Accessibility and Accountability award during the ResourceX Summit last week.
The mission in the Finance Department is to provide accountable information and decision support services that empower elected officials and City departments to make financial and performance-based decisions. A big part of delivering on that mission is creating the City's annual budget.
For years, our budget has been organized in a way that makes perfect sense from an accounting perspective (i.e how much we spend on office supplies, postage, etc.), but didn't provide the best information for understanding what the City's services were and what they cost to deliver.
Now, thanks to partners at ResourceX, What Works Cities, Results for America, the George Kaiser Family Foundation, and people on our budget team, we've made progress and published a complete program inventory (services the City provides) and their costs as part of our FY23 budget. You can find it in the Department Highlights section at https://www.cityoftulsa.org/budget
