Republican Study Committee (RSC) Chairman Kevin Hern (OK-01) released a statement celebrating the passage of Rep. Beth Van Duyne’s (TX-24) amendment to H.R. 8070, the Servicemember Quality of Life Improvement and National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2025. Last week, the Republican Study Committee endorsed the amendment.

"President Biden's Administration shamelessly disregards the sanctity of human life," said Chairman Hern. "Joe Biden himself supported the Hyde Amendment for the vast majority of his political career. Yet now, his White House caters to the most radical wing of their party, betraying the vast majority of Americans who do not support taxpayer funding of abortions. Rep. Van Duyne’s amendment will block the Biden Administration’s unlawful guidance authorizing reimbursement of abortion-related travel for members of the military, a needed step forward in the fight to protect life. I look forward to continuing our work to safeguard and uphold the health, safety, and future of our children."
