The Tulsa track and field teams recorded several victories at the ORU Invitational, according to a March 28 announcement. Both the men’s and women’s squads secured event wins and set new marks in the program’s record books.
The women’s team started strong with a win in the 4×100 relay, as Cahsia Page, Alexis Cavin, Rylie Hancock, and Isabella Famiglietti finished with a time of 47.36. Sara Morefield won the women’s 1500 meters in 4:35.09, leading five Tulsa runners in that event. Alexandra Johnson took second place in the women’s 3000 meters with a time of 10:21.26.
Sprinter Alexis Cavin placed second in the women’s 100 meters with an 11.56 finish—ranking third fastest all-time for Tulsa—and later won the women’s 200 meters in 23.86, which is sixth fastest for the program. Annie-May Cannings claimed victory in the women’s 400 meters (55.66) and joined Cavin, Kamree Dye, and Lianne Holtermann to win the women’s 4×400 relay (3:43.42). Holtermann also secured first place individually in the women’s 400-meter hurdles (1:00.23), while Jaylin VonWald was runner-up after placing fourth earlier in another hurdle event.
On the men’s side, Evan Sanni-Thomas led by winning both the men’s 400 meters (46.78)—the third-best mark ever for Tulsa—and later capturing first place again in the men’s 200 meters (21.16), which is seventh best historically for Tulsa athletes. Sanni-Thomas anchored a victorious men’s relay team that included Colin Madison, Joseph Snyder, and Harrison Stapleton; Madison also won gold individually in men’s hurdles with a time of 51.67.
Other notable results included Zach Lewis finishing second in men’s middle-distance running events and Ayden Taylor scoring points across two races for Tulsa’s men’s squad; among field events competitors were Isabella Famiglietti placing fourth overall among long jumpers while Rylie Hancock took third place triple jumping.
The Golden Hurricane will return to competition at next week’s Stanford Invitational scheduled for April 3–4.
