Tulsa’s track and field teams competed at two separate meets on Friday, with distance runners attending the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville and a group focused on sprints and middle-distance events traveling to the Gorilla Classic in Pittsburg.
At the Tyson Invitational, Levi Rowan secured first place in the men’s university division 3,000 meters with a time of 8:05.45. He led a group of Tulsa runners that included Max Larson (ninth), Luke Lambert (12th), James Knockton (13th), Joseph Stoddard (18th), Joseph O’Connell (25th), and Micah Blomker (29th).
On the women’s side, Sara Morefield finished second in her race with a time of 9:26.53, which now ranks as the fourth-fastest mark in Tulsa history. Matilda Laidlaw and Kathryn Koonts placed 12th and 13th respectively, finishing nearly together, while Ailey Mitchell also competed.
The championship men’s 3,000 meters was notable for Ben Brown, Luke Birdseye, and Charlie Krasnoff who finished seventh through ninth. Their times—7:52.57 for Brown, 7:52.94 for Birdseye, and 7:54.04 for Krasnoff—placed them seventh, ninth, and eleventh all-time at Tulsa.
In other events at Fayetteville, Andrew Lutkenhaus took eighth place in the men’s university section of the 800 meters with a time of 1:49.53; he was followed by teammates Joseph Snyder, Jiri Ceska, and Richard Matthews. Grace MacDonald ran 2:11.64 in the women’s event while Billie Rouse posted a time of 2:14.30. Evan Sanni-Thomas completed his race in the men’s 400 meters with a time of 46.92 seconds.
At the Gorilla Classic in Pittsburg, Colin Madison won the men’s 600 yards with a performance that places him second all-time at Tulsa for this event after finishing in 1:10.44; Luke Finzen finished fifth.
Among sprinters at Pittsburg State University’s meet were Alexis Cavin who took seventh place in the women’s 200 meters (24.61 seconds) while Tyler Priest participated both in the men’s 60 meters (finishing thirteenth) and later ran a time of 22.17 seconds over 200 meters; Harrison Stapleton finished just behind him at 22.24 seconds.
Isabella Famigiletti competed across three disciplines—she was twenty-second both in the women’s 60 meters (7.78 seconds) and long jump (5.30 meters).
Tulsa athletes will continue their participation at both venues on Saturday with competition resuming at different times depending on location.
