Tulsa track sets two meet records and multiple podiums at Thane Baker Invitational

Tulsa Golden Hurricane track and field athletes set two meet records at the Thane Baker Invitational held in Manhattan, Kansas, on Friday. The team achieved several podium finishes during the competition.

Billie Rouse led the team by winning the invitational 800 meters with a meet-record time of 2:09.77. Andrew Lutkenhaus also set a meet record for the men in the 1,000 meters, finishing first with a time of 2:21.50.

The middle-distance runners continued to perform well throughout the event. In the women’s mile, Sara Morefield took first place with a time of 4:55.12, and Kathryn Koonts finished third at 5:01.56. Matilda Laidlaw earned third place in the invitational mile with a time of 4:51.15.

On the men’s side, Tulsa swept the top three positions in the mile race, with Levi Rowan winning in 4:06.43, followed by Charlie Krasnoff (4:06.59) and Ben Brown (4:07.28). Four Tulsa athletes finished among the top six in the men’s 800 meters; Brady Korsmo was second with a time of 1:55.95.

In sprint events, Isabella Famigletti led Tulsa’s women in the 60-meter preliminaries with a time of 7.73 seconds and competed in both the 200 meters—where she placed ninth at 25.07—and long jump, where she was twelfth with a mark of 5.54 meters. Alexis Cavin was seventh in the women’s 200 meters at 24.82 seconds.

For Tulsa’s men’s sprints, Tyler Priest ran a time of 6.92 seconds in the preliminary round of the 60 meters and finished seventh in the 200 meters at 22.50 seconds.

The men’s relay team placed fourth overall in the 4×400 relay with a finish of 3:16.50 while Tulsa’s women secured fifth place in their relay at 3:46.01.

Tulsa Golden Hurricane will compete next at the J.D. Martin Invitational scheduled for January 23rd in Norman, Oklahoma.
