Tulsa’s track and field teams concluded their regular indoor season with several notable performances, including a new school record and multiple top finishes at the Tyson Invitational and Gorilla Classic meets.
At the Tyson Invitational, Evyn Humphrey led the women’s mile by placing seventh with a time of 4:44.72, moving her to third in Tulsa’s history for that event. Teammates Matilda Laidlaw, Sarah Hosey, and Sara Morefield also competed in the university division of the race.
On the men’s side, Levi Rowan finished second in the mile with a time of 4:05.14. Luke Birdseye and Brady Korsmo followed closely behind, finishing seventh and eighth respectively.
The men’s 4×400-meter relay team—composed of Evan Sanni-Thomas, Luke Finzen, Joseph Synder, and Colin Madison—set a new school record with a time of 3:10.99, improving on the previous mark by nearly two seconds.
At the Gorilla Classic meet, Andrew Lutkenhaus secured second place in the men’s mile (4:05.50), while Walker St. John finished third (4:08.06). Annie-May Cannings won the women’s 400 meters in 54.91 seconds. Billie Rouse took second place in the women’s 800 meters (2:10.29), and the women’s 4×400 relay team placed fourth.
Reflecting on Friday’s events, Levi Rowan won the men’s 3,000 meters at Tyson Invitational while Sara Morefield posted Tulsa’s fourth-fastest women’s 3,000-meter time ever. In addition to these achievements, Ben Brown, Luke Birdseye and Charlie Krasnoff entered Tulsa’s all-time top-11 list for their performances in the championship men’s 3,000 meters.
Colin Madison claimed victory in the men’s 600 yards at Gorilla Classic on Friday as well as moving up to second all-time for Tulsa in that event.
The Golden Hurricane will now prepare for postseason competition at The American Indoor Championship scheduled for February 27–28 in Birmingham, Alabama.
