Rock legends Mötley Crüe and Def Leppard have announced The University of Tulsa will be a stop on The World Tour in 2023 with an electrifying stage show at H.A. Chapman Stadium on Aug. 16 along with special guest Alice Cooper.

Hot off the heels of the biggest North American stadium tour of 2022 with more than 1.3 million tickets sold, the U.S. leg of The World Tour kicks off Aug. 5 in Syracuse, New York.

“After finally getting back on the road this past summer, we’re beyond thrilled to bring this massive tour to a global audience including some special dates in America!” said Joe Elliott of Def Leppard.

“We had an incredible time playing The Stadium Tour in North America this summer and we truly can’t wait to take the show around the globe with The WORLD Tour in 2023. Crüeheads get ready because we have a few amazing U.S. dates set for you!” Mötley Crüe said in a joint statement.

The Aug. 16 show will be the first major concert in Chapman Stadium of the millennium. TU President Brad R. Carson said he hopes this event will usher in a new era of hosting huge touring acts at the university. TU’s Donald W. Reynolds Center holds approximately 8,500 fans and hosts popular bands and singers each year in an arena-style setting. In addition to student and faculty concerts, the grand Lorton Performance Center hosts more intimate performances by Tulsa Symphony Orchestra and Tulsa Ballet. Adding the 30,000 seat Chapman Stadium to the list could provide a right-sized venue for residents of Tulsa and the surrounding area to experience performances that might have otherwise passed this region.

TU is pleased to partner with Live Nation on the summer 2023 event. Ticket information is available at ticketmaster.com.
