Sophomore Jordan Wenger set a new high jump record for Oral Roberts University (ORU) during the Owen Hewitt Invite hosted by the Oklahoma Sooners. Wenger cleared 2.18 meters, surpassing the previous program record of 2.15 meters set by Demarcus Bass at the Mizzou Invitational in January 2006. With this performance, Wenger is now ranked fifth nationally in the high jump.
Other ORU athletes also had notable performances at the event. Kellen Rutledge achieved a height of 2.04 meters in the high jump, while Jamin Andrews recorded a personal best with a jump of 1.99 meters. In addition, Evan Allerkamp posted a personal record in the triple jump with a distance of 13.52 meters.
At another meet, the Arkansas Invite, Artwell Magake and Ishmael Acheampong finished in the top ten in the men’s one mile race. Sibonokuhle Thwala placed twelfth in the men’s 3000-meter run, Madeline Cabana secured ninth place in the women’s 3000-meter event, and Deborah Mazzei finished among the top ten competitors in the women’s 800-meter race.
The Golden Eagles will compete next at the Washburn Open on January 30th in Topeka, Kansas.
