Oral Roberts University Reaches Historic Enrolment Number

Spearheaded by the largest incoming class in the University’s history, Oral Roberts University (ORU) officially exceeded 5,000 students this fall, setting an all-time enrollment record. For the 14th consecutive year, the University’s enrollment increased. According to the state census, ORU enrolled 5,051 students for the fall semester. With its expanding campus and academic excellence, ORU continues to be recognized as one of the largest, fastest-growing, Spirit-empowered universities in the world.

“With a student body of over 5,000 and 14 years of consecutive enrollment growth, we are thrilled that ORU continues to earn the trust of students and families,” said ORU President Dr. William M. Wilson. “It is wonderful to witness the worth these families place on a Spirit-empowered whole-person education.  They want a university that prioritizes values, and the ORU distinctive is attractive. ORU is committed to our bold vision, and this generation wants more than a degree; they want to change the world.”

With a focus on global education, ORU’s student body is also increasing in diversity, with 15% African American, 14% Hispanic, and 20% international. This semester, ORU enrolled new students from all 50 states. The top five represented states are Oklahoma, Texas, Florida, Louisiana, and California. Recognizing ORU for its growing diversity and globalism, Niche named ORU as one of the most diverse colleges in America. With its internationally diverse campus, ORU enrolled students from 124 nations and added Armenia, Iceland, Iraq, and South Sudan as new nations this fall.

“Coming to ORU has been a life-changing moment for me,” said ORU freshman Jason Abraham. “As soon as I moved in, I knew this is where I'm supposed to be. Since then, my time here has only gotten better.  The ORU community is so special, and I’m thrilled to be a part.”

"Throughout my time at ORU, I have been academically challenged and shaped for my career,” said ORU senior Lynett Amaro. “The friendships, lessons, and encounters I have had as a student have helped me develop spiritual integrity and personal resilience.”

With ORU’s enrollment reaching historic numbers, the campus is expanding to support the next generation of Spirit-empowered students. During the ten-year tenure of President Wilson, ORU has made major campus renovations and recently dedicated its new Welcome Center. This semester, the University also opened the Fenimore and Fisher Graduate School of Business (FFGSB), which includes the FFGSB Capital Markets Trading Floor. Currently under construction are the Mike Carter Athletic Center, the high-tech J.D. McKean Library and the 78,000-square-foot Media Arts Center.  With the future addition of the Green Centre of Global Leadership, ORU remains focused on its mission of developing Spirit-empowered students.

“Fourteen years of consecutive enrollment growth,” said Alison Vujnovic, ORU Assistant Vice President of Enrollment Management – Residential, “is not just amazing for our students as it showcases their determination to pursue academic excellence through a Spirit-empowered education, but also a great tribute to the remarkable faculty, staff, and faithful leadership we have at ORU.  We hope you’ll join us… we’re just getting started.”
