Oklahoma Wesleyan University Women's Golf Takes 1st At Ottawa University Invitational

Both the OKWU Men's and Women's golf teams participated in the Ottawa Fall Invitational on September 12 and 13 at the Eagle Bend Golf Course in Lawrence, Kansas.

Both teams performed well for their first tournament of the season.

The women's team took first place outscoring the second place team 651 to 843.

Gracee Hilburn took the top medalist honors for all women and Avery Clevenger took 3rd place medalist overall.  All of the women's golfers finished in the top 10.

The men's golf team took 3rd place overall.

Nolan Pope took 4th place overall while Liam Currid took 6th place and Connor Herzberg took 32nd place.

Freshman Hayden Woelk played very well in his very first college tournament finishing in 18th place overall.  Fellow freshman Trevor Melton also played well in his first college tournament finishing 24th overall.

Coach Shannon stated the following:

"I am very encouraged by the determination in both teams.

Special thanks to our nutrition and fitness coach Dean Costales for all of his work in getting the players in great shape. His hard work is paying off!"
