University of Tulsa Tulsa Rowing Names Hugo Moon as Assistant Coach

Tulsa head coach Brandon Campbell announced the addition of Hugo Moon as an assistant coach for the rowing program.

"Hugo's crews found a considerable amount of success while he coached junior and collegiate club rowing," Campbell said.  "His knowledge of international racing will also be a large asset to our staff on the recruiting trail and we're excited to welcome Hugo to TU."

Moon comes to Tulsa from Gainesville Area Rowing where he served as the head coach and rowing director for three years and was responsible for the Youth and Masters programs.  He organized the training program and yearly race schedule, helped coordinate local regattas, maintained the organization's social media presence and helped organize visiting college crew training camps.  Moon coached GAR athletes to numerous district, state and regional titles, as well as a bronze medal in the Men's U19 1x at the 2022 National Championships.

Prior to GAR, Moon was the club women's head coach and graduate assistant at Washington State for two years (2017-19). He managed a squad of 25 women, including organizing and leading their yearly training program, and assisted the men's head coach with their training sessions. Moon coached WSU's club team to two second-place finishes at the ACRA National Championships in 2019 after also coming in third and fifth in 2018.

Moon also had stints as a graduate assistant at Canford School (2016-17), as the head women's rowing coach at Warwick University (2015-16) and as the county hockey coach at Birmingham & West Midlands Hockey Association (2015-16).

Moon earned his bachelor's degree in philosophy, religion and ethics in 2015 at the University of Birmingham (UK) and his master's degree in sports management from Washington State in 2019.
