Peoria-Mohawk Business Park, a partnership between the City of Tulsa, PartnerTulsa and George Kaiser Family Foundation (GKFF), received national recognition this week at the Site Selectors Guild (the Guild) Annual Conference in San Antonio for its commitment to sustained economic growth in North Tulsa.

Located at Peoria and 36th Street North, the Peoria-Mohawk Business Park comprises 120+ acres of land that represents the cornerstone of planned redevelopment efforts in North Tulsa. The business park is a unique collaboration that offers incentives for businesses committed to investing in Tulsa. GKFF donated the land, and public investment dollars approved through Vision Tulsa have positioned the business park to be among the top industrial locations in the region.

"The Peoria-Mohawk Business Park is a shining example of our City's commitment to sustained economic growth in North Tulsa,” Mayor G.T. Bynum said. “This project represents a long-term investment in Tulsa and our residents, and we are thrilled to see that hard work recognized by the Site Selectors Guild. We look forward to continuing our work with PartnerTulsa and our other community partners to create more opportunities for economic growth and prosperity in Tulsa for years to come."

The Projects with a Purpose award honors individuals or organizations who have successfully implemented location selection projects that go above and beyond job creation to address social and/or environmental issues within a community. Recipients are helping to tackle the most challenging problems by reducing inequality or promoting a healthier environment.
“Our vision for Peoria-Mohawk is to provide economic opportunities for North Tulsa through skilled and sustainable living-wage jobs,” said Josh Miller, senior program officer for GKFF. “By donating land and providing free, dedicated workforce training customized to an employer’s needs, we are focused on building wealth for the North Tulsan community for generations to come.”

A $43 million TIF District has been established to promote homeownership and neighborhood rehabilitation programs in the area surrounding Peoria-Mohawk. TIF funds will be deployed over the next 25 years as funds are generated from Muncie Power Products’ investment, the first tenant in the Business Park, and other future tenant investments.

“We are thrilled that the Peoria-Mohawk Business Park was recognized for its proactive economic development strategies, public-private partnerships and people-centric approach to bolster economic vitality in North Tulsa,” said Kian Kamas, executive director of PartnerTulsa, the City of Tulsa’s economic development authority.
