Updated City of Tulsa Organizational Structure

Tulsa Planning Office’s move back to Tulsa City Hall comes as the Departments of City Experience and Public Works start operations at the start of the City’s new fiscal year on July 1.

The Tulsa Planning Office’s move to City Hall includes City staffing for the Planning Commission, City of Tulsa Board of Adjustment, Tulsa Preservation Commission, Destination Districts, Vibrant Neighborhoods Partnership, and support for the Tulsa Arts Commission and Route 66 Commission. All planning cases for properties within Tulsa limits will be processed at City Hall, 175 E. 2nd St., Suite 480.

The Tulsa Planning Office will be a part of the newly created Department of City Experience (DCE), which also includes the sections and offices of Tulsa Animal Welfare, Neighborhood Inspections, Community Development and Housing, City Design Studio, and the Mayor’s Office of Resilience & Equity.

Effective July 1, 2023, the City’s current Streets and Stormwater Department and most of the current Engineering Services Department will work together in the newly formed department known as the Public Works Department. This move will allow both departments to work more directly on projects from concept to completion, as the Streets and Stormwater Department is responsible for maintaining the streets and stormwater infrastructure built and coordinated by Engineering Services. This move vertically integrates street constructions and maintenance under one department.

Overall, the co-location of planning, zoning, permitting, code enforcement, and Public Works will result in a more straightforward customer service experience for people doing business with the City and will increase collaboration between the City and the public.
