Today, the House of Representatives passed legislation to name Tulsa's new VA hospital after the late Senator James Mountain Inhofe. The 275,000-square-foot, 58-bed medical-surgical facility will be known as the James Mountain Inhofe VA Medical Center. This act commemorates Senator Inhofe's long-standing commitment to military personnel, veterans, and their families during his career in public service.

Representative Kevin Hern (OK-01) expressed his admiration for Senator Inhofe. “Senator James Mountain Inhofe was a towering figure who put his country and state above himself,” said Rep. Hern. “He was not only a lifelong public servant to Oklahoma but also a dear friend. With today’s passage of the bill to name Tulsa’s new VA hospital in his honor, we ensure his legacy of championing our military, veterans, and their families will endure. No one is more deserving of this recognition than the man Oklahomans proudly called their Senator, Mayor, champion, and friend—James Inhofe. His legacy will stand tall, and may he always be remembered.”

The legislation received co-sponsorship from Representatives Tom Cole (OK-04), Frank Lucas (OK-03), Stephanie Bice (OK-05), and Josh Brecheen (OK-02) in the House. On the Senate side, U.S. Senator James Lankford sponsored the bill with support from Senator Markwayne Mullin as a co-sponsor.
